The context

Small wineries and companies in the agri-food sector located in rural areas do not always have the capacity to channel their waste water to treatment plants. Compliance with the regulations in force thus obliges these small companies to treat their wastewater on site before discharge into the natural environment.

Investment in costly water treatment methods can rarely be afforded by these SMEs, which has led to the disappearance of many enterprises in rural areas in favor of urban areas. This problem makes it difficult to maintain continuity and create new businesses that cannot support current environmental legislation.

The NUTRIA project is part of the European rural development policy 2014-2020 by contributing to "improving the viability and competitiveness of all types of agriculture and promoting innovative agricultural techniques and sustainable forest management" . The project also aims to better implement the circular economy, to reduce the waste produced and the pollution generated by the various production processes linked to agriculture. -3239-9149-20813d6c673b_
